Since I started working 13 years ago, I had owned 3 cars. All of them were bought outright from the previous owner. Nevertheless, the first and the second were no longer in my possession. I sold them years ago. My current and only car, Proton Wira was bought from my mother in law at a decent price.
I have been using my car for work since two years ago. Given that I work mostly outdoor and at various terrains, she started to give in recently. The engine has minor leakages, the undercarriage has worn out, the radiator needs to be replaced, water pump defective, starter defective, suspensions no longer working, just to name a few.
I used to have to replenish the engine oil once in a week and water into radiator after few hours of driving. (Not a good practice but I had no choice because of the leak. Coolants would be drained just like that. They cost quite something!)
Not to mention the paintwork. A few dents, rusts, scratches are all over the car. What's more alarming is that the roof is blistered, peeling and hideously perforated. I get water trickle down my roof during rain. Especially heavy ones ðŸ˜.
Pretty hectic and I had been through this for half a year. So I decided that I have to have my car fixed as soon as practicable.
I knew this was definitely going to cost me A LOT. I went to an auto garage to see and got quoted around RM 2500 for the repair work. I was quite reluctant to carry on since the quotation was only for mechanical job and paintwork is a whole new chapter. Total cost could amount to around RM 5000 - RM 6000. I might as well buy another used car with that money!
There's more..
Despite the absurd cost, I proceeded anyway. I actually got this covered by my company 😆. Astounding. They have been reasonable and responsible up until now. I can safely say that I have my car fixed for free.
With that huge amount covered by the boss, now it is up to me to begin with the paintwork. Got to find a good deal with a decent price though. Conceivably not in Langkawi.
